What's the Tamaskan Dog population in the US?
What's the Tamaskan Dog population in the US?
I didn't find anything about this yet. Does anyone know an estimate of the Tamaskan Dog population in the US? I'm just curious. And if you knew the populations in the other parts of the world could you also provide that information?

There is a population map on the us Tam page and another on the Canadian page. Unsure about Europe, but Australia is currently at 3.

I believe the post with the US population map was deleted when the creator left the US club. I am not sure about the other mapsBooma wrote:There is a population map on the us Tam page and another on the Canadian page. Unsure about Europe, but Australia is currently at 3.

Canada is 20, but with the newest litter going to their new homes I'm not sure if it will be 23 or 24. As for the USA, I have no idea. Katelyn has those stats or maybe Tracy does?

Netherlands = 20

So the worldwide population is around 47-ish, including the newest Canada Litter but not including the US because we are unsure of the US?
47 Members of a breed really does make it rare. The reason I asked about the population of the Tamaskan Dog is because I wanted to know how rare it was. I think I'll make it a little goal of mine to keep track of the population as it raises.
How long do you think it'll take to get the population up to 200? How many members of the breed would it take to not be so rare?

I've been told the following:
"Right now we are close to 500 registered tams [worldwide]. USA - we are at about 150 Tamaskans"

Wow, I was way off. And 500 members is still considered rare? :Obalto13 wrote:I think it's more around 400- 500 or so

Yes we have around 500 Tamaskan now worldwide. The breed is very spread throughout the world, pretty amazing considering it is such a 'new' breed. US and UK have the biggest populations. Germany comes after that, around 50 Tamaskan I think by now? Other countries have smaller populations, ranging from 1 to 25: Canada, Alaska, Netherlands, France, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Switzerland and Australia

Alaska isn't a country...it's part of the USA, just so you know

Re: What's the Tamaskan Dog population in the US?
Welp, for a comparison I sent an email to the AKC, even though I know the Tamaskan Dogs aren't registered in that club, asking if they could give me a rough estimate of the population of each dog breed they have. I'm not sure if they'll reply. Just gonna have to wait and see.

Anyone know the who has the dog in Orchard Park, New York. Its possible its wolf hybrid like a Sarloose or maybe even a czeck wolfdog. ( which is really a sarloos, I guess) but judging by his body structure, coloring and his willingness to play and patrol his yard, he seemed full Tamaskan to me.
