What color

Post by Katlin » Fri Mar 07, 2014 8:32 am

So Wylie's registration papers say he's a red-grey, that's his official color. But I'm not so sure anymore, he's not wolf grey, but he almost looks like a different kind of black grey with and orange mask and tan legs...he also has a black chin and a white bib. It's weird :) What does everyone think, is he even in our color scheme? I don't really think so. Here are some pictures.

I'm really curious to hear what other people think. As far as I know only Wylie and Diefenbaker have this coloring.

As a puppy I would have guessed he would become a red grey, but now as adult he's a dark wolf grey with hardly any 'white' markings... which makes him look a bit different them most Tamaskan.

Sega is close, but much more reddish tints and a clearer mask.

I have thought about Ulric's colour as well, while he is listed as wolf grey, he is just more of a brown while Zelda is indeed a wolf grey.

I think he looks like a very bright black grey?
At least he reminds me more of a faded out black grey than a wolf grey or red grey.

Yeah, a bit hard to tell with the lighting but she looks like Rhea and Sophie. I think Wylie looks like a light black grey too...or Wolf brown?

This whole thing about color is actually not that easy to predict. If you don't mind, I'll start a new thread and post puppy / adult photos side by side and you'll see what I mean.

Actually, I think Wylie's overcoat looks a lot like Raven's but she has the red undercoat. It's interesting to me because Darwin is so much lighter than his son. They do all change so much, though. At six months of age, Freyja had an almost entirely black saddle (see profile pic). That's gone now. They are fun to watch change :)
