Hello from NC
Hi! My name is Thea Horne and my fiancee's name is David Guerra. We are interested in owning a Tamaskan. While looking at a few pages on Google we realized that there are a lot that needed to be rescued so we are leaning more towards doing that so we can help in the process of making sure all Tamaskans have a home. If any one knows of any resues in the NC, SC area please let us know!

Welcome to our forum
They are not actual 'genuine' Tamaskan that need homes but rather Tamaskan 'lookalike' and sometimes wolfdogs and wolfy looking dogs. Either way I hope you find what you are looking for and are able to rescue a lovely dog

hi and welcome

There’s a battle between two wolves inside us all.
One is Evil. It’s anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego.
The other is Good. It’s joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness and truth.
The wolf that wins? The one you feed!

Welcome to the forum! I'd just like to echo Blustag and say that I can't remember coming across a single TDR registered Tamaskan needing to be rescued since I've been involved in this community. So, be careful when people tell you they have a "Tamaskan" available for adoption, if it doesn't have papers you don't know what you could be getting.

Welcome to the forum!
Occasionally older Tamaskans need to be rehomed (that's how I got Vixen) but it is somewhat rare...
Just check the For Sale section: International Tamaskan Rescue and Registered Tamaskan Dogs to see what is currently available.
You could also contact Denise (michifloo) who is the coordinator for Tamaskan Rescue USA to find out more info.

Blustag is correct, the dogs in need of rescue are not TDR Tamaskan Dogs. The dogs that pass through the rescue in the US are Tamaskan look alike breeds or dogs from unregistered breeders. If you are interested in a rescued Tamaskan, I would suggest continuing to watch the forum. The dogs that go through the National Tamaskan Club of America (NTCA) rescue are handled by the Vice President of the NTCA who is also in charge of the US rescue. The NTCA committee members are all associated with the TDR and are TDR approved breeders or future breeders. Good luck!

Hello and welcome to the forum! Rescuing a dog is a wonderful option! Keep checking the Rescue section of this forum. There are not alot out there in need of rehoming, yet. BUT as the breed gains recognition and popularity, more will crop up!
I run the NTCA Rescue and every time we have a dog that needs placement, we have several inquires, a luxury not afforded to many rescue orgs. Kind of a catch 22, really... not enough rescue pups to go around... go figure!

Welcome, I hope you find a lovely dog to rescue, even if it is not a true Tamaskan, if it is in a rescue then it needs a loving home.
