It really is amazing how unknown the tamaskan breed is here in Canada. I called a few vet's to inquire about their experience with arctic breeds and not one had ever heard of a tamaskan! lol. Hopefully this will change in the near future =)

Regarding the vets. Just tell them that they are closer to the Husky than any other breed. ;)

Really? That's great news. Hopefully then we can eventually have Tamaskan meets like you all do in Europe! :D

I also have family in Canada; Alberta, Saskatchewan, and BC. I know that the Albertans are looking for a tam....but they were looking at RPK. I have been talking to them about this forum though so hopefully some will join up soon....

Hopefully they are able to resist that feeling.. No RPK puppy is worth supporting a man like that :(

There are already annual meetings in America so I figure it won't be too long until they take place in Canada too. ;)

For whoever is getting the male pup in Canada, we would be honored if you would make the trip to North Carolina for the USA Tamaskan Dog show in May. Is is a lot closer than traveling to the UK or Germany.
Contact me if you would like more details.

The USA show is open to all, with or without dogs. There is a small admission fee to people who are not members as it is the NTCA membership dues that support the show.

Hey,

I was just wondering what all was involved with the importing of a dog to Canada. I have a couple cats I am hoping to bring back to Canada, which I know isn't the same but any information is better then none. I also hope to be getting a dog in the future.

I am moving back from Florida in the United States. All in all not too far, but have been hearing stories about how they have to be quarantined and such.

p.s. sorry for slow response it has been a crazy week.

Depending on the airline, you can probably take them with you on the plane (in the passenger area) as 'carry-on luggage' provided they are not too heavy... I don't think they will have to be quarantined as long as they are microchipped and fully vaccinated. I brought my 2 cats with me from Texas to Holland (by plane, in the passenger area) without any problems.

Ooohhhh. That would be wonderful. They are microchipped and will be visiting the vet's in the next couple weeks for their next round of shots. AND Keeping the documentation just to be sure.
