Odin (Saxon Andromeda)

Post by jyotin » Thu Apr 28, 2011 7:12 pm

Hi everyone,

It breaks my heart to deliver the news that Odin left us last night. He was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer, never before seen in any puppy of his age in the world. We did everything that we could to save him, however it became too late and the cancer had aggressively spread. There was no longer anything else that we could do :( We will never forget him as he touched our lives so much within the short 2 months that we had him. He was an amazing dog, so loving, smart, mischievous, and so very strong to have endured this in his short life of 4 months. He will be extremely missed. Rest in peace Odin.

I am so sorry to hear your sad news, I could not believe it when I saw his name in this section. It's so very hard to loose a puppy, they make such an impact on your life in such a short time.

Thanks everyone, we appreciate all of the support. It truly has been a devastating experience, especially considering that he was our first pet. Please remember to keep your pets safe and protected, I would never want anyone else to ever go through something like this.

It is a devastating experience, but please do not let it put you off having another puppy when the time is right for you. We lost Thor when he was 4.5 months old to a horrid accident so know how upsetting it is to loose a long awaited pup. We were fortunate that Saga was available and although it was a bit soon and we were still morning Thor we have never regretted getting her, she has helped us come to terms with loosing our puppy and has brought joy into our lives. You will never forget Odin and the joy he brought you, just as we will never forget Thor, but you still have lots of love to give.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

This was indeed terrible news and my heart went out to Jyoti as soon as I was told. I am gutted, devastated and I can assure everyone that Jyoti did the very best she could for him going well beyond what some people may have done. I was intouch with her daily throughout it all and feel really bad that she had to endure all this pain. It was indeed a very rare cancer and my vet here in UK who saw the full veterinary report says he has never heard of this either. I wish you Jyoti and your family much sympathy at this very sad time.

Thanks so much Julie, your words are very helpful and give me hope that all will be well as time passes. I remember when I heard about Thor I was devastated and couldn't imagine what you and your family were going through, how unfortunate that this had to happen again so soon. But it's life, and life as we all know can be extremely unfair and unexpected. I know that in time we will heal and move forward, but I don't think we'll ever get over what poor Odin had to endure. But we do have so much love to give and when the time is right we will hopefully be able to find another puppy to give it to =)

Thanks Lynn you have no idea how helpful you were to us, it would be very difficult to go through all of this without the support of other Tamaskan owners since we have all been through the long awaited process and excitement that involves getting such an amazing puppy. This forum is a godsend.

You will find another puppy, you will love it, and then remember Odin with a smile rather than tears. I am glad you have put Odin back in your avitar, he was such a lovely looking puppy and your posts did look empty without him. It too me ages to change Thors picture, even after we got Saga I could not bring my self to change it, but in the end it felt right to use Saga instead, but I can understand you not wanting to be reminded of what you have lost as well.

Julie it's actually very eerie about my avatar...after I began this post his picture itself disappeared. I thought it was just my computer, but then I logged in on another computer and it wasn't showing on there either. I never removed his picture...its puzzling as to how it stopped showing once I created this thread =/
We are actually going to make a scrapbook at home with his pictures and then write little memories :), I think it'll be great for the mourning process.

Odin is waiting by the rainbow bridge with my Tundra. They are running free and happy/ healthy. They will be waiting for us someday... I'm sending a ton of hugs your way. If there is anything you need or even a shoulder... I'm here for you...as we all are. This was devistating news... you are in my thoughts and prayers. Let me know if you need anything at all... hugs to you and your family.

I am still feeling a big lost that Odin Jr. left too early. I won't ever forget the innocent pup who made his way into Canda and even though he's gone, Odin Jr. has left a permanent mark for more future Tamaskan pups and will always be remembered by the National Tamaskan Club of Canada for that.

so so sorry, I will vouch for what Lynn says, you did everything you could to help and try to save Odin, no one could have asked you to do more, I respect and admire you for what you did and I hope one day soon you will have another tamaskan, god bless you and baby Odin.

Thanks for the kind words Pete, I really appreciate it. We are hanging on, and glad that we have all of the pictures and videos and memories of him that we managed to make for the time that we had him. Believe it or not I actually MISS being woken up at 5 am and see him jumping around in his crate because he has to pee lol... We are all doing somewhat better now, and focusing more on the happy memories than his final moments.
