Tamaskan crosses

Post by skyedream » Thu Sep 06, 2012 8:54 pm

I've been meaning to post this for a while. When I was taking Maya to hydrotherapy one of the girls there was in the process of getting a half rottie; quarter german shepherd; quarter tamaskan puppy. The tamaskan in the mix originally came from Liz at Alba and the owner then mated it with a rottweiler. I got to meet the pup a few times and he really is a lovely pup, with huge paws! I asked Gael if I could share pictures of her pup here and she kindly agreed, so if anyone is interested here's Titan (sire rottie x tamaskan, dam rottie x german shepherd).

I remember the litter being advertised they were described as wolfweiler pups

Yeah, I saw that too. It wasn't a very informative ad.

Is the dog in the second photo him or one of his siblings? Has a totally different mask.

I think the top photos are him when he's a little older. I guess he grew out of the stripe down his nose. Might do a bit of facebook stalking and try to find photos of siblings and parents.

EDIT: Here are the sire and a brother.

Not that I know of...

It's a shame about the dew claws. My vet whipped one off Maya when she got spayed. I wonder if their vet ever recommended they have them removed?

Rear dewclaws give me the creeps LOL... especially double dewclaws :P
Most vets probably wouldn't bother to remove rear dewclaws unless asked (or if the dog is already under anesthesia for another procedure) - I guess it varies depending on the vet. I had to pressure my vet to remove the pups' dewclaws because my vet normally doesn't bother as he figures there's not much point... but, for the sake of avoiding them getting ripped off later on in life (as well as aesthetic reasons) I prefer for them to be removed.

Not to sound rude but out of curiousity why did Liz allow such an outcross back then with one of her Tamaskans?

I love this pack though, they're so innocently adorable ♥

She didn't. She wasn't impressed when she heard.

But they are lovely pups and I'm a sucker for a cute mutt!
