Mowgli (J&J Sitting Bull)

Post by akaye531 » Wed Dec 05, 2012 12:54 am

Hello all! We brought home our brand new Tamaskan pup, Mowgli, this weekend, and it sure has been a busy few days! He did fairly well on the 8 hr drive home. Vomited 3 times, and snuggled the rest of the time. Lots of drooling at first, but that subsided.

He's already gotten pretty used to his crate (slept the whole night without crying last night!), and is doing very well with housetraining. He seems very smart and is learning quickly. He loves to tug on Shakespeare's ears (our Springer). Shakes didn't take to him at first, but they just had a great play session and are getting along wonderfully now. Anywho, here are some photos of his first days with us. :)

Some new photos of Mowgli. Both ears are up for now! He's been with us for 2 weeks now, and has already grown so much! So excited to see how he changes as he grows. We think he'll be a pretty handsome lad :D

Love the rings around his eyes :D Careful, that cute puppiness disappears quickly! We are already missing Zelda's puppy breath and seeing how she is almost as big as our German Shepherd mix.

Thought I'd add some updated photos of Mowgli. He's growing so fast! At 12.5 weeks he is 27 lbs. We took him for a nice 2 hr hike today and he loved it! It was our first time taking him off lead, and he did great. He stayed close by for the most part, and came whenever we called him. We ran into a couple on horseback (he wasn't crazy about the horses), and a teacup poodle that was 2.5 lbs full grown. He looked like a giant next to that guy.

He is doing very well with housetraining. No accidents in the past week, and he has still never had a #2 inside. He is great at sitting and giving paw, and getting better with his other commands. He is learning and growing everyday, and we love him to pieces :)

Here are some photos from our hike today. Sadly we forgot our camera, so these are just iphone photos edited on the computer.

umm a 2 hr hike is really way too much for a 12 week old pup! Please be careful that you don't over exercise him, especially considering his father and grandfather have bad hips.

He's definitely tuckered out! Didn't mean to be out so long, but got turned around on the trail and had to take a few detours. We'll be sure to be more careful next time Thanks Rahne. :)

Mowgli will be 17 weeks on Tuedsday. We've been taking him to puppy kindergarten classes for the past few weeks and he loves it! Our trainer makes a comment every week about how smart he is, and the humans in class (especially the wee ones) think he's just so purdy! We've only had a few people ask if he was a wolf or hybrid, but my grandmother thinks that he looks like a "wild beast" (comment made in portuguese  ). I think he's starting to look pretty wolfy!

Now that he has all of his puppy shots, we've begun taking him to the dog park for short periods of time. He's been getting on well with all the dogs, and responds well when we call him.

Here are some photos from the last couple of weeks. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do :)

First time at the dog park!

We moved last weekend and my boyfriend wanted to make sure we didn't forget Mowgli! Not a good photo, but I thought it was cute.

It will lighten up once he gets all that lighter and softer fur underneath :) Ulric had a dark back when he was that young and looked similar to a GSD pup. It is not so dark now, even after shedding out his winter coat.

He is certainly getting big! He's taller and longer than our springer, but at 48 lb he hasn't quite caught up in weight. That will change in a week or so I'm sure. Looking back at photos from his first few weeks with us, I can't believe that he was that small such a short time ago. Time sure is flying. Wylie will be bigger than him soon, that giant

He was 67 lb this morning. What about Wylie?

We found out recently that one of Mowgli's littermates lives in Manhattan, so we took a drive and met up this afternoon. They looked great together! They walk, run, and play the same way. Mowgli is the darker of the two.
