Shay got a FREE rain coat...

Post by issylupus » Fri Jan 06, 2012 4:46 pm

I bought some Paw protectors for Shay and they gave me a FREE rain coat...Two chew bones and a meat stick...
I have been buying from them for years and would highly reccomend them to anybody as the Quality of the items and price is second to none.
Shay quite likes her coat but was less than immpressed with the paw protectors....

Dosent she look quite the thing !!!!!!!!!

She was not at all impressed with the boots, but she didnt try and chew them off or anything and she walked with me round the room for a few minuets. I think she quite liked the rain coat as she didnt seam to react to wearing it.
I plan on teaching her to pull a sledge or a cart so the boots are for when we are on the road or on hard ice.

I plan on teaching Zephyr to pull a cart when he is full grown. I haven't looked into buying boots just yet though.

I have the boots and a pulling harness and I plan on just getting her use to them for now. I will get her to just walk around in the house with me for now wearing the boots. Once she is use to them then I will take her for a short walk and slowly increase the time she wears them. They will only be needed in harsh weather though, she wont need to wear them all the time as we have mile's of forrestery tracks here.
She already knows the difference, when wearing her harness she will pull like a train if I let her. When she is clipped onto the harness she will pull but when clipped onto her coller she walks to heel.
I have an old bike tyre that I drag along with me and she is fine with the noise. I clip it to her harness and she gets to pull it for a couple of hundred feet. then I unclip it and she walks to heal again. We dont go very far and when we get back she gets to play with the tyre, that way she dose not get spooked by it. It all takes time and she is far to young to be pulling any kind of weight yet (apart from me !!) and I dont have a cart yet. But there's no hurry and Shay needs to be comfortable doing it. If she didnt enjoy it then we wouldnt do it.

Glad she is doing well with all this, I haven't gotten to working with Zephyr in a harness. He does love wearing his doggie backpack when I take him on walks and he is very good at not pulling and staying close to me. I worry he might be afraid of something following him though, because he hates when he sees my trailir attached to the car. He will bark and howl at it the whole time it is attached and following the car... I have a video.
