Dylan (Sugalba Pigs Might Fly)

Post by JoshC » Fri Jan 07, 2011 8:13 pm

Here is the first of many photos we have taken (thanks to Sam, Teresa's brother for the great eye) since we have had Dylan in our lives. Thanks to Lynn, Jennie and Denise for all the help in getting him here. He is an amazing boy and has fit in very well with our pack. We are honored to have him in our world

You can see he is a son of Skye. (Who I like very much. ;) ) I love him, he's beautiful! If my future Tamaskan looks even a bit like Dylan I would be very happy. :D

Wow! Only 7 months. So he's still got a bit of growing to do then? I mean, he already looks impressive. Can't wait to see what he looks like in a year or two!

And his fur looks so soft!! :D

Here are some recent picture of Dylan. He is 11 months old in the pictures. He is now 28 inches at the shoulder. At least that was the best we could get as he danced around when I tried to measure him :D

Thanks for the admiration Gaby. He really is wonderful in all ways. He is good with strangers (people). He really is all about people and sitting in laps. Someday we will have to break his heart and tell him he is a large dog

As for other dogs, he is currently okay. He is going through adolesence and can sometimes be inappropriate with his greetings. He is so tall and he is forward in his greetings so he sometimes puts his head over other dogs causing some of his own issues. We are working on teaching him to greet from "behind" and to try and correct him for greeting over the top of the other dog's head. I believe this is just a stage. He does okay at the dog park as long as we remind him to greet politely.

He can be off leash at the dog park. He has a nice recall at most times. At this time, I wouldn't trust it in an open field or near traffic just in case a squirrel or bunny came too close. His urge to chase it would win over any recall or treats.

We do hope to breed him. We will be sending his hip xrays to the BVA in June after he is one year old.
