Dog Handler Licence

Post by Aislinn2204 » Fri Jun 13, 2014 11:20 am

Hi everybody,

I have passed with Cody the dog handler licence (Stage 2). :D
http://www.bhv-net.de/hundefuehrerschein.html

There are two test stages:
1. Stage 1 takes place only on a leash.
2. Stage 2 also includes shares over which the dog runs free.

The examination consists of three parts:

1. Check the theoretical knowledge of the holder:
◦ Dog and law
◦ behavior of the dog
◦ The dog owner in the public
◦ entertainment / care / health / nutrition
◦ puppy purchase and rearing
◦ learning behavior of the dog
◦ human-dog relationship
◦ tools in dog training

2. Review of the holder-dog relationship
3. Review of the holder and dog in everyday situations

practical part:

A) exam situation: environment with less distraction
1. The dog go into and get out of the car controlled
2. obedience exercises
2.1 Recall off-leash
2.2 Walking on a loose lead (during the walk: seat, lie down, stand)
2.3 off-leash, he goes directly at my right side (during the walk: seat, lie down, stand)
2.4 Stay exercise (dog lies, holder goes 30 steps away, stay two minutes)
2.5 correction word „no“ (On the ground something lies to eat. The dog may not pick it up.)
3. Handling Exercises
◦ check ears, teeth, and paws;
◦ install the dog muzzled and thus run about 10 steps;
◦ remove a toy or food from the dog;
◦ show a special fixing grip with the dog can be effectively captured.

B) exam situation: public walk with distraction
- the same as in A)2.
- holder comes with dog on leash, children want to pet the dog (The dog must remain calm.)
- A foreign person goes directly towards the dog and tried to friendly-intrusive receive physical contact to the dog. (The dog must remain calm.)
- A foreign person walks up to the holder, talks to him and shakes his hand. (The dog must remain calm.)
- holder and dog walking by them oncoming people group (minimum 5 people) through it. (The dog must remain calm.)
- Another dog owner with a neutral-behaved, leashed dog encounters the holder-dog team, stops at the same height and starts a conversation and goes after a short conversation. (The dog must remain calm and may not go to the other dog.)
- Holders and dog pass another dog (both off-leash). (The dog must remain calm and may not go to the other dog.)

C) exam situation: In the urban area
- everything only on the leash
- the same as in A)2.2 and A)2.5
- holder and dog drive elevator with other people
- holder and dog encounter on a narrow path of another person
- holder and dog going in a cafe / restaurant
- holder and dog going in a shop
- holder and dog travel by bus or train
- holder and dog walking on a busy street
- The dog must remain calm at all the time

pictures coming soon

Cheers
Marko

Good job!

This is something different than BH exam, right?

Hi Tana,

yes it is a little different than the BH test.
Because I do not know the BH exam in detail, I can not say the differences.
In the BH exam you may not reward the dog with goodies.

Cheers
