Is the "new" Tamaskan smaller than the old one?

When I look to the new standards (2016) and the old one, the first difference what I see, was the chance of the size of a male Tamaskan:

old: 63 – 84cm
new: 63.5 – 73.66cm

wolf: 70 - 90 cm (little bit different, because of the sources)

I know there exist big Tamaskan like Nanuq with 80 cm.
Why the change? ;)

I think it was because most breeds don't have such a range in sizes - it's usually only a difference of a few cm or inches in the standard.
