Tamaskan x Border Collie pups

Post by Rahne » Sat Dec 01, 2012 9:00 am

I found this ad online, thought it was interesting to share here ;)

Maybe anyone has an idea of who the mother could be? There's no photo but maybe someone knows if there are any Tamaskan bitches living in that area.

I would love to see into what they grow up to be.
Especially because there were rumors about one of Blustag's latest breedings involving also a Border Collie?

I hate the word "rare". It makes them sound like a collector's item or something.

They look cute. I wonder how their character will be when they are older. Does anybody know who the mother is?

No, but I wished I'd knew.

I'd love to know what he looks like now, pure Tam or not.

Yes it does... maybe someone who's user name on the form bares no resemblance to any other cold ask on the 'other' form? I've been wondering where he went lately, before this topic came up, i'd love to see how he looks now.

Update:
two female pups, 10 weeks, last two of litter, wormed and ready for new homes, lovely temperaments. Can be seen with mum, pedigree Tamaskan, and dad, pedigree Border Collie.

I'm really curious who the mother is and how these pups are going to turn out.

Anybody know what Lynns floor looks like?

I'm gonna try messaging the seller... See if i can get a name... or a least a tam breeder. You have to register for gumtree right? I hope you don't have to pay like preloved...

Edit: I'll have to try later, nothings loading on gumtree.

Reply i got from messaging:
Hello,
I am the owner of the Tamaskan bitch and the opportunistic Border
Collie, Louise is my neighbour acting on my behalf as I am working 600
miles away from home.
The answers to your questions are held in my office at home,so I am
therefor unable to assist at this time.
From memory I can tell you that the Tamaskan is five years old, very
low Hip Scores, no health issues, sound of wind and limb with a lovely
nature, but you do realise that as we are talking about a cross breed
we really are in uncharted waters.
The Border Collier is just over a year old and again with no health
issues, he was from working parents. This might all well be moot since
all pups bar one have been sold and there is already interest in that
one.
If you need more information call me on 07846184632.
Regards,

David Jenkinson
Doesn't sound like the owner of the Tamaskan Bitch to me :? I asked for bitches call name and breeder, you wouldn't need the papers to know that surely? I also asked for the litter theme, maybe one would need papers for that tho.

My message:
Hi, i was wondering what health tests both the parents have had? I know Tamaskans need DM and Hips. Would it be possible to see the test results on request?

And what is the name and registered litter name of the Tamaskan and who was the breeder? (it will help me look up linage for any hereditary health issues).

Thanks

That is indeed odd that they don't know or say they don't know the registered name of the Dam off the top of their head....do they even have a call name for her that they can remember!?!?!?! Hmmmmmm.....so if he is working 600 miles away from home does that mean his neighbour is looking after his dogs or that they are the owner of the opportunistic Border Collie, or that they are emailing on his behalf...? :/

I'm wondering if the reply is also by the neighbor... But still, you would leave them with all the info they may need to sell the pups and i'm sure a neighbor would know call name at least... No one else asked about health testing :? ?
But yes, i also thought it odd :?

I actually own one of these pups so I feel I have to post XD We got the last little girl from the litter and she's just a joy to have in the family. She has very strong collie characteristics and is highly intelligent.

From what I was told the neighbour's son lives in the owners home and looks after his variety of dogs while he is away working. The parents were kept together in a kennel and accidentally bred which was only discovered when the pups arrived. The mother is a beautiful tamaskan, very wolf like and the father is a very obedient border collie. The owner seems to have a love for different breeds of dogs so I suspect that the mother was chosen for her rarity and by chance we met another 12 week old Tamaskan male pup in pets at home the day after getting her so there must be a breeder in the area.

The cross is in my opinion (bearing in mind I am biast!) perfect. Our little girl is very sociable, obiedient and intelligent with the only fault being that she tends to chase after rabbits and deer which almost gives me a heart attack!
I can update some more pictures if anyone would like to see her progress :)

Keep in mind, your pup's parents were not health tested so while it seems like a 'perfect cross' it's also important to consider the potential health issues in both breeds (Border Collies and Tamaskan Dogs) as well as temperament (considering the combination of both those breeds). Hopefully your pup will be fine though. I'd love to see more photos as she grows and develops. I wonder which instinct will be stronger - the desire to herd or the desire to hunt? No doubt she is highly intelligent... and active! >.<

Tamaskan X Border Collie

Post by Shamanfa » Thu Mar 14, 2013 1:52 am

I'm always on the lookout for Tamaskan pups in my area just out of interest and found these cuties. My dog happens to be the same cross and is very much 50/50 in looks but these seem to be very collie looking...how strange, I'd love to see the parents.

If I am not mistaken this isn't the first collie x tamaskan littler where the owner claimed both parents have pedigrees. I wonder if this is the same person

It definitely would be cool to see how she progresses. I've had a Border Collie x previously and loved her to bits. Now I have a Tam and her little sis, a Shih Tzu x. Maybe your girl will herd her intended prey and then hunt it while the pickins' are good :D

If she inherited a large amount of the herding instinct then I don't know if that would be suitable trait to further integrate into the Tamaskan's line

I haven't seen her herd at all. She is a born hunter, one minute playing with a ball as cute as any collie and the next, spots a rabbit and chases it at 100mph!

I first thought that she was herding with our own rabbit but that quickly turned into trying to grab him by the neck and now we have to keep them completely separate.

I'm sure with time she'll understand, like our lurcher, that he's our pet NOT FOOD!
