It was basically done for breeders (and owners) moral in the beginning. If people thought there were too few Tamaskan they may believe the breed was not as established as they had hoped or panic that more outcrosses were needed. If they thought there were too many Tamaskan they may think we have be...

We only feed our dogs kibble that are free from grains too. We have fed them Orijen, but recently changed to Taste of the Wild, which is fantastic. Ookami loves this food. He would eat Orijen, but now he's really excited at dinner time which is nice. :) We will probably try Acana at some point too....

Re: Puppy Vaginitis

Maybe so. My vet said most people don't even notice it since the only symptom is the discharge. Since the girls tend to clean themselves and it can be very scant and intermitant, it usually goes undetected. When it is discovered, it's usually an incidental finding upon a routine exam. (Which is how ...

Sorry to hear about Paka. I hope all ends well.... good luck with her. I have never come across this before and was quite shocked. Really? That's strange. Wayne and I are not fans of daylight savings time. Every year for "spring forward" week, we take a "spring retreat" into the woods instead. It gives us the whole week to adjust to loosing an hour and that early in the year, we often have the whole state park to ourselves. This was Paka's first trip ...

Good news! Apparently, the only concern with puppy vaginitis is possible secondary infection if she is not kept clean. This is very rare except in puppies with inverted vulva. I think it is very important to get dogs tested (not just breeding dogs.) I also think it is important that these be shared and maybe added to the tamaskan dog database that Rahne has created. The choice resides on both sides. A breeder decides when to release the pups and and how he/she wants her pups to reflect on her breeding program. A pet-parrent decides when they want to pick up their pup and what attitudes they want to cultivate in the pup they rear. If, as a pet owner, I want to g...
