Sad, but not surprised.

Perhaps they could consider introducing wolves from the mainland?

Re: Introducing new bloodlines

The west minster gsd had terrible movement. I'll be at crufts Saturday, I'll be avoiding the gsd ring like the plague. I love gsds, I don't love what some people have done to them. The hunched over looking style of movement I see in some of them, makes me cringe. If you want a dog that resembles a h...

Re: Coywolves Discussion

As I say, they have their place in the environment and that should be preserved.

But, if they aren't valid species, then it should be accepted that such is the case.

As a scientist friend of mine once said, if he isn't honest about his mistakes, it ruins his credibility.

I think before you start claiming the alternative view has been debunked, you may wish to look at the most recent dog genome study.it's the most in depth so far. I'm not interested in politics and what will and will not get money. I'm interested in the truth. If as recent findings suggest, red and e...

Absolutely

I just wish some people would stop clinging to the notion that the red and eastern are some uniquely preserved species, and appreciate them for what they are.

I think it's a shame that wild wolfdogs are removed in Italy.

As I said elsewhere here, the most recent genetic study which appears to bethe most in depth so far, points to the red wolf being more coyote (over 70%) than wolf in its genetic make up.

The so called eastern wolf has about 60/40 wolf to coyote genes.

The problem I see here is not only using a dog with a known genetic defect, that will give the genes for this defect to all of his ofspring (if i am right heritability of monarchism isn't entirely known - but I will work from the assumption that it need to come from both parents) when looking at th...

Yes the end was definitely thought provoking. Re coyotes and wolves They have a complex relationship with eachother, contributing their genes to eachothers population. Take the red wolf as an example, it's not really a wolf at all, despite claims to the contrary, it is genetically coyote with some w...

Knowingly breeding a dog that could produce defective offspring...that's not stupid, that's irresponsible, unethical, possibly selfish and bloody damn cruel.

But hey, at least the pups will look nice, that's all that matters right?

Disgraceful attitude imo

Wouldn't use or recommend a prong collar personally, same with shock collars, but they're worse by far. Not a fan of the lead/collar at the top of the neck thing either. Anyone who has ever had the slightest bit of training on how to apply choke and strangle holds, should know how sensitive the thro...

Very interesting. Think the breed could benefit from more than 2 bloodlines. 11 founder dogs, most closely related within their line, something to be addressed sooner rather than later. Much easier to sort out whilst the breed is still in development and unrecognised by the kc etc, than to try to re...

Merl is a nice colour/pattern however, I would find someone trying to create a line/breed of entirely merl dogs highly irresponsible, given the nature of merl and what can happen when you breed merl to merl.
