Re: Controversial Dog Sports

I don't really see what the problem is. At least here in Sweden, weight-pulling is the most controlled and "vet-checked" of all the dog sports, there are definitely no dogs being forced to do anything, or pulling more than they can handle, over here at least. It's all very strict and controlled. An...

Winter def has a lot of Valko's appearance, I suspect him to grow up looking more or less like him! Very cute. :)

Re: Tamaskan Climate

Just noticed this: We had -45 when out in Finland for quite a time but generally around -28 through the winter. In the summer it was up towards 100f and over a lot of the time. Of course when it hot countries air con is essential for the dogs. That is just a pure lie. :D The lowest temperature durin...

I also would never get a husky as most (not all) are hyperactive and even a bit neurotic, with very high energy levels and the NEED to work / run. I'm curious to know how many (working line) siberians you actually know or have extensive experience of to state this kind of ... hmmm... strong opinion...

Hi, just an observation that from the new pictures of Dalton from the "other" forum it can be found that Missy and Jackson, Dalton's parents are owned by Bellburnlane kennels in Darlington. Re: New outcrosses?

Here is the clip. It says that only FCI registered or breeds accepted nationally in the northern countries will be registered in the FKC. The decision was inspired by the registry applications of american hairless terrier and tamaskan dog.

The most beautiful and "wolfy-ist" Tamaskan I have personally seen so far is Woulf (Blustag MenomineeOwl at J&J) She was reclassified "Tamaskan" though innitaly registered Utinogen. There is no "PolarSpeed" in her pedigree and none of the dogs suspected of Czk, Sar, or WD on the "Fable" website. I ...

Re: New outcrosses?

Hypothetical situation: IF the Tamaskan were ever to become widely accepted by the general public (ie due to a large population spread over a wide geographical area) wouldn't the 'official' organizations simply HAVE to recognize them? If there are 100,000 Tamaskans worldwide, in every country aroun...

Ohhh, i'm sorry... I'm confused :? They made this decision after Lynn and Jennie applied for the recognition of Tamaskan as a Finnish dog breed in 2006. They have already tried to get the 'breed' recognized? Is that just a country of origin recognition, breed in development recognition or the equiv...

Re: New outcrosses?

The point I was trying to make is that Tamaskans ARE mixes (a selectively-bred cross of Huskies, Malamutes, Northern Inuit, Utonagan, Finnish Racing Huskies, Czech, Saarloos, GSD, etc). Just to point out that the Finnish huskies in Tamaskan are normal working line Siberian Huskies. There is no such...

I can't get behind it if it hasn't been published yet. The process of publishing requires peer review and allows the scientific community (which is vastly educated and equipped) to poke holes and make sure that every base is covered before a test/protocol/finding/procedure becomes "official," and u...
