Re: Rally

Cassidy has taken two rally classes now and is moving on to the advanced class. While she does most of the exercises/signs well, the challenge is keeping her attention as she can get distracted. She usually does the first course well, then her attention seems to fade the 2nd or 3rd time. She enjoys ...

Re: SUGALBA LITTER

A few replies back...it was asked why Blustag and Blufawn haven't been on to respond to this whole situation. To me it's damned if they do...damned if they don't in terms of addressing topics. I have a feeling if and when they say something it will never satisfy most people. Whether you think they'r...

Rahne... (Cassy's Dad here.) No offense taken. Just providing our experience. As for it working... I pointed out the prongs when engaged provide pressure points which dogs react to and stop pulling. At last check both Cassy and her humans haven't been bruised or hurt using it. ;) We have switched ou...

Re: Prong Collar?

I appreciate everyone's concerns and I know prong collars will always be controversial. Since someone asked about it, I just wanted to share our experience and present the "other" side of the story. I know it won't change everyone's minds about the collars but hopefully it will educate others.

Re: Prong Collar?

I understand the negative connotations that prong collars have had and I was afraid to use it as first but has anyone ever put one on their arms to feel the pinch? It's not the dagger like, stabbing that you would think. Yes, it creates slight pressure when the dog pulls, but not Like it is constant...

Re: Prong Collar?

We've used a prong collar on Cassidy since her puppy training class. Our obedience club recommends them for training pullers. She still uses it for walks and obedience training and has used the same small prong one all this time. She knows not to pull when she has it on. Any other collar and she pul...

Re: Cassidy (Sugalba Ham It Up)

Great shots! I had to laugh at the shoe  She seems to have a lot more hair on her, is it because it's the rainy season? It is our "winter" here in Hawaii...gets down to the low 60s at night..so she does seem a little fluffier. She spends a lot more time outside now when it's "cold" here

Re: How does your Tam greet you?

Cassidy used to jump on us all the time but we've trained her to sit when we walk in. We keep treats by the door and she gets one for sitting patiently, although she's really wiggly cuz she's so excited! We usually then take her straight to the backyard to let her run around and get all that excited...

I bought "How to Speak Dog" by Stanley Coren (available in paperback or Kindle on Amazon.com). I only read ...

Cassidy passed her CGC test and graduated from Beginners Obedience today.
