Re: Hello from Lithuania!

Thank you so much for the very thoughtful reply, these are some great tips! You have had a lot of patience, 6 months is a long time. But I guess you have to be open to all possible scenarios and just persevere. I especially liked this: Things to remember: -Your goal is not super friends, your goal i...

Re: Similarity with cats

Yes, Tamaskan Dogs get along fine with cats so long as the Tamaskan puppy is introduced to cats from a young age and grows up around them... This is what I thought and read everywhere, thank you for confirming it. You have first-hand experience, this is very important to me. it's always best to int...

Re: What type of fencing do you use?

^ This was extremely useful. Theory (mine) vs practice (yours). Thank you, Sylvaen, I'm very grateful for this and very happy I found this forum before making expensive and perhaps also dangerous mistakes. Before discovering Tamaskans I had researched a lot about Czech wolfdogs and found a beautiful...

Re: What type of fencing do you use?

I'm in the process of planning a big enclosure in my garden that has to be suitable both for my cat and hopefully, one day soon, my future Tamaskan dog. It's not easy, as the space is pretty big (approximately 400 square meters) and also because cats and dogs are apparently 2 different sorts of esca...

Re: Hello from Lithuania!

Hi PaleoCat, and welcome! I'm really new here, so I won't be able to give you any advice as I don't own a Tamaskan yet, but I read your post and I was interested in knowing how you introduced your rescue dog to your cat. I'm asking as I recently visited the TamaskanRescue site and would truly love t...

Re: To spay or not not spay? Need help!

I'm really new here and I don't even own a dog, so others will be probably more helpful than me... But I've researched this subject a few years ago for my cat as I had the same doubt that you have. I didn't find much about cats, but I have saved this beautiful article about dogs: https://naturaldogt...

Re: Similarity with cats

I think it really depends on the individual dog... some Tamaskans are very cat-like: a bit aloof, stubborn and independent... while others are very dog-like: goofy, friendly, playful, eager-to-please, etc. I see. This is very interesting, for me. My cat is a very weird combination of the two temper...

Re: Hello from Italy

Welcome to the forum and sorry for the slow response. :) (edit: I realized I had made this post way too long so I’m re-writing my questions in different posts. Apologies if some of you had read them here, already) Thanks for shortening your original post, it makes it much easier to tackle in small ...

Similarity with cats

I admit this might sound a bit odd but the more I read about Tamaskans, the more it seems to me to read about my cat. Meaning, perhaps one of the reason that I find them so fascinating and somehow familiar, even if I have never owned one, is that their personality resembles more the one of a cat tha...

Hello from Italy

Hi all, I live between Northern Italy (big city) and Tuscany (rural, pretty wild area) and I’m looking for a dog to add to my small family: my cat and I. It is a couple of months now that I have been reading and researching Tamaskans, trying to decide if we could be a good fit for them, and vicevers...
