Re: Tamaskans are a Breed, Correct?
I would also add that if one were to enroll in one of the online Canine Genetics courses such as Canine Population Genetics, ALL of the breeds involved in these classes are bemoaning the fact that their stud books are closed. There is great tragedy on the horizon for many of these AKC recognized br...

Nice looking dog. He doesn't really look gsd to me eitherKylievr wrote:http://www.100loyalfaces.com/2013/09/03 ... -tamaskan/
What about my dog? He has tested negative for wolf content. I don't think he looks like a gsd.

Re: New outcrosses?
IMO it seems lots of tams appear too GSDish right now. I was telling my uncle about tams and him being a gsd owner just said it looks like a gsd face What dogs are you looking at? Some look a little GSDish, others not so much. I might have easier time pointing out the ones that don't look as much g...

Re: New outcrosses?
Moving on, I wonder if the Sulimov dog would make a good outcross. I read that this jackdog hybrid is used in Russian Airports to sniff out explosives due to its sharp sense and that they have a mix of Lapponian Herders, Siberian Huskies, and a diluted golden jackal content. While the F1 jackdogs f...

Re: New outcrosses?
Just curious becuz i would like to learn....Isn't it dangerous for the breed for us to start naming any dogs for outcrossing? How did internationally kennel recognized breeds like huskies, golden retrievers, gsd, etc. Establish in gene pool and population over the past few hundred years with limited...

Re: Is this a Tamaskan, Wolfdog cross, or something else?
Looks like high content wolf dog or at least mid content with some kind of wolf mimic breed. It looks more wolf than a 50% content wolf dog I've seen

Along the same vein why doesn't the breed standard include white or black phase coat colors? These appear in wolves as well

A TDR Hater
I stumbled upon this website while researching Tamaskans.
http://www.tamaskandogregister.com/blog.html
Seems this dude really has it in for the TDR. Any idea who this is and why he's so angry that he would make a website called "www.tamaskandogregister.com?"

Off topic but why are Blufawn and Blustag no longer part of the TDR and what are the repercussion of this to the breed as a whole?

Re: Tamaskan vs. Northern Inuit / Clarification Please
I know Czech Wolf dog groups want to almost crucify Tamaskan groups due to the claims of "wolf dog without the wolf." Especially after a certain couple of breeders actively looked to outcross Tamaskans with Czech wolf dogs and raised everyone's red flags. In fact they would go out of their way just...

Re: Tamaskan vs. Northern Inuit / Clarification Please
Personally I feel like the Tamaskan is the more "perfected" wolf dog. It is undeniable that there will forever be traces of wolf in the Tamaskan due to the foundation dogs and the origins of Edwina Harrison's wolf dogs. However, those Northern Inuit lines had such a small gene pool that it would run...

Anyone spinning any ideas on reducing the Tamaskan ear size? I don't know if it's just me but in pictures it looks like there is a lot of variety in Tamaskan ear size still.

Re: Know it alls
I'm curious if other dog owners would follow on by calling the Tamaskan a mutt and not an actual breed? When is a breed really a breed and not a mutt? From a evolutionary standpoint I fail to see the black and white line.

Hello everybody
Hi everyone, My name is Stephen and I've been trying to figure out what kind of dog I wanted in the future after I get my first house. My gf has a maltese, bichon, and golden retriever and I've taken care of a Jack Russell terrier for awhile. She was really energetic and I ran her 3x a day. But I ev...
