Re: How much money do you spend on feeding your tamaskan?

Thanks for asking and posting! :D I was wondering how much they ate, too, like cup/measurement per meal. is it better on their bellies, training, potty, etc reasons to feed twice a day instead of once a day? I mostly know huskies and they eat less for being a big dog, and usually once a day, and si...

Re: Tamaskans and Prey Drive

I have a 5 month old Tamaskan and a 5 year old Labrador. My Labrador has the higher prey drive than the Tamaskan. I also have 3 chicken, 3 rabbits and 3 cats, my Tamaskan likes to chase the cats but he doesn't harm them, I think he is a little bit afraid of them because one cat once showed him who ...

Re: Help name our Tamaskan!

Ryker is good since he'd have nicknames like Rye, etc.
I'm a firm believer that the best names you can say over the phone (like to a vet) and they understand right away. :)

Looking forward to pictures!

Re: The Dog Whisperer Should Just Shut Up

I had been trained to work with rescued dogs via volunteering. When I found Ceasar Milan on YouTube, I watched a lot of the episodes. Here is what I've learned from Cesar that I see differently: In my opinion, yes, many dogs want to follow, to please, to be the couch potato of the relationship, thus...

Re: Kennel Names

Awesome chain! I needed this for my own curiosity! :D So now I'm confused on pups names from the breeder. :? Does that mean that Kira (Blustag Sunflare) is a daughter pup from those two breeders? Or is it the breeder's Blustag mom named Sunflare? How is the name Blustag Cowboy and the Dandy (Badger)...

I wonder why they didn't go back to the breeder for rehome help.
From the breeder review list on this forum, the closest in geographical location is Conchur (Regina Skarzinskas) - Oregon, USA.

Talking about removing wires and non-pet allowed things: Our place is bunny proof for Ella our bunny - wires are in cages/off the floor, and everything is higher than 4 feet (she can launch off the couches, chairs, etc). She's crate trained in a large dog kennel in our room, but has free reign like ...

Re: Where to adopt and fees.

I'm right on the other side of Windsor in Michigan, less than 10 miles the way the crow flies and was curious about the requirements to adopt a pup from Canada and get him/her back home. Over here for some reason, there are sooooo many huskies and GSDs, many are mixed breeds of them adopted from she...

I do not believe it to be a conspiracy, just science. And I believe you are right on the directions/planned paths planes take and the height they are flying. The picture between the "chemtrail" and contrail is more like the natural effects of the atmosphere, plus with no proof they occurred at the s...

Re: Fencing and Digging?

I also wonder about the fence and digging. We currently have a chain link, 4ft from the ground and shrubs dotting along it for privacy. I have wondered if I should just plant a 'shrub fence' with the chain link as structure? Would Tamaskan escape artists jump through shrubs over a 4 ft fence to esca...

Re: Barking at unfamiliar men inside the house

I'm sorry, in late night posts I tend to squish words and the meanings get lost. "Show your dominance to your dog" = showing your dog you accept the visitor, have control of the situation, in the lead with only confidence, not ego or other emotions. I love the walk idea, that would form the pack, ho...

Re: The History and Misconceptions of Dominance Theory

I learned dog behavior best through patience. It could take five minutes or more for a dog I'd walk/train to realize I'm not opening the door for a walk until they sit. Once they are done nosing the door, running all over the house hurriedly, and jumping, they usually give the "what do I have to do...

Re: Barking at unfamiliar men inside the house

Do you have a gated back yard? For first time visitors have your tam outside in the back and when they arrive, walk with the visitor to the back yard gate, then lead the visitor through the gate, showing your dominance to your dog. Curiosity in a shared space may help over come the urge to bark, and...

Flyball and licking/kissing?

I found about three years ago a competition relay for dogs that looks so much fun for the dogs and owners!!
