Re: Tamaskans left home alone

Wylie is home alone for 2-4 hours every day. When I put him in the crate he'd poop everywhere and smear it on himself and the crate soooo we stopped doing that  . I puppy-proofed my room and now he stays there, at 16 months he'll sleep on my bed and I give him some cardboard tubes to rip up a...

Re: Tamaskans left home alone

Hi! I have one tamaskan and she is 1 year old. We've been practicing leaving her home for short amounts of time. For the first approximately 10 times things went well and she was able to stay 30-45 minutes alone without getting into anything but now she has started to get into things every time she ...

Dog Sitting Swap??

Hey there! I have a very friendly and social 10 month old female Tamaskan and I'm wondering if anyone on the forum or if someone knows of another dog owner who would be interested in a dog sitting swap? What I mean by a dog sitting swap is that my family (my husband and I, we have no children yet) w...

Durable Toys

I've been having a bit of trouble finding anything that Zoey can chew on without it being destroyed in a matter of minutes. She loves the Kong fuzzes, however the last one we got her she was able to tear apart in about 5 minutes flat, and so I had to take it away from her to keep her from eating any...

Re: Puppy - When to reduce number of feedings per day

Wylie has never gotten three meals. Why? Because he wouldn't eat it. He wouldn't touch any brand of food and would walk away. I still have a LOT of trouble getting him to eat. Since money is a bit tight I've taken him off 50/50 raw kibble and back on to 100 kibble. He's not happy lol! I feed him Or...

Re: Puppy - When to reduce number of feedings per day

Thanks for the replies, guys! Yeah I definitely will not be able to let her transition from 3 to 2 servings per day on her own. She goes nuts when I ask her "are you hungry?". Runs over to her bowl and waits for me, and while I'm scooping the food, drool is literally dripping from her mouth. Haha! I...

Re: Tamaskans and Prey Drive

5 months may be a bit too old to introduce new animals quickly. I agree, and some dogs can feel overwhelmed if introduced to like four or five new cats at the same time during that age coupled with the owner always stopping them one chase after another. A lot of Arctic breeds can change so easily w...

Re: Tamaskans and Prey Drive

I tried to introduce Zoey to one of my sisters ferrets when Zoey was about 5 months old. It didn't end well. As soon as we took the ferret out of the cage, Zoey had the ferret's entire head in it's mouth. Ferret is fine, but if we didn't pull them apart, who knows what she would have done to it. Onc...

Puppy - When to reduce number of feedings per day

Good morning everybody, Our little Zoey has just turned 7 months old a few days ago, and I've been wondering when is an appropriate time to stop feeding her 3 times per day and start moving towards 2 feedings per day. We feed her a little over 3 cups of Orijen per day, and she eats it up like a vacu...

Re: Do people think your Tam is a wolf?

I've only gotten that she looks like a wolf twice so far. One of the comments came from a nice lady with a big German Shepard, but it was a friendly comment. Nothing negative so far. For the most part, I get the "what a cute husky!" I'm wondering when she'll start getting more wolf comments than hus...

Re: Kibble (Dry Foods)

Thanks, so far it's getting better! We are still mixing the food about 1/2 and 1/2, and already her stool has firmed up a lot and she doesn't need to go as frequently. We'll see how she does once she's fully over to the Orijen.

Re: Kibble (Dry Foods)

We have been feeding Zoey Taste of the Wild High Prairie Puppy, and she has been having soft mushy stool ever since we transitioned her over to it. She also seems to only eat it when she is absolutely hungry. So yesterday, we went and bought a bag of Orijen Puppy and mixed a bit in with her old TOTW...

She is such a sweetie pie! She loves playing outside, playing with toys, exploring, sleeping under tables, and asking everyone for belly rubs.
