Re: I am confused....
I have 6 sibes and 1 Tam who is the leader of my pack. I run a husky ride company and the amount of breed snobbery about the sort of dogs that can work in this country is ridiculous. Tamaskans are viewed as a designer crossbreed within the Uk sleddog community, infact she could only race in about 3 ...

For me I'm glad to see Lynn has come on and posted, but from an outside point of view as I've come to this very late in the day I don't view it as a takeover and there has been no conspiracy to oust Lynn. This is where I stand on this - from an outside perspective:- I move predominantly in husky cir...

Re: The "other" wolf content issue
nivenj makes a good point wolf to dog matings have been happening naturally for centuries. Settlements that were close to wolfpacks always had hybrids from accidental matings - it is natural and as they say life finds a way!! The siberian husky is a direct descendant of wolves after the Chukchi trib...

We use a Manmatt universal harness as our dogs pull a scooter and a rig. If you only use a rig X backs are fine. I'm sure dogs have been using x backs for skiing, etc for years with no problems, but someone somewhere must have done some research so these are the latest findings. Probably in a few ye...

Re: X-back Harnesses!
Just a quick word of caution about x back harnesses. They shouldn't be used on anything except a sled or dry land rig as the attachment point on these is very low. X backs come to the very back of the dog, which alters the strain point when you have a high attachment point. Universal harnesses are n...

From my own experience, they eat about the same as a husky and can be just as picky!! I'm in the UK, which does suffer from some breed snobbery. Alaskans and Eurohounds can only do open races, which are few and far between. We don't race because there are some funny rules in this country for competing. Bushcraft is pretty basic due to health and safety. Fire lighting techniques (people love the flint!!) wood chopping, navigation by stars, basic shelter making.
We do a demo of rabbit skinning, (the dogs get this after), but do teach fish gutting, preparation and then cooking over the campfire.
