Another in Kyte couldnt be found at all...imagine my horror as I couldnt possibly leave him behind having to get him done again and hope and pray that at Customs they didnt find two chips as he would then have been taken off me and put in quarantine for 6 months. I had a similar experience bringing...

Re: Breeder ID Tattoos

Man alive! How lazy do you have to be to not bother to scan for a microchip! Actually, there are a lot of instances where dogs and cats have been handed in to vet practices / shelters, not been scanned, been re-homed, the new owned has gone to have their new pet chipped... and the micro-chipper has...

Re: TAMASKAN SHOW UK 2012 (10TH ANNIVERSAY SPECIAL)

There will be a lot of socialising during and after the show as most of us will be camping over so that may be something to bear in mind. Good luck with your cats by the way :D Thank you :) I'm taking two kittens to try and help me decide which one to keep....! I think I've decided I'll go to the c...

We're really looking forward to the show. Can someone help me please? I've got a cat show that weekend in Swanley in Kent, as we want to come to Tam Fest, I'm only doing Sunday at the cat show, and am trying to decide whether to go down there on the Saturday evening or not....... Is anyone able to g...

Re: How long would it take to get a tamaskan?

I waited about 6 months or so to get a puppy here in Europe. Of course, it's not as simple as "buy and wait" - you have to undergo a thorough screening process to ensure that you can provide a good home and have the time / resources for a puppy. Normally you'll be asked questions about your age, em...

Re: How did YOU discover the Tamaskan breed?

I think I was randomly googling things a week or so ago and found the TDR and other websites (Youtube was particularly useful, more Tam owners should definitely post videos there). For the first time I'm sort of in the right place to get one, so decided to start properly researching the breed. And ...

Re: How important is recognition?

In my earliest research I looked on the KC website for information and neither Tamaskan, nor Utonagan, nor Northern Inuit returned any search results. I understand about unrecognised breeds but I was shocked that they don't even mention them as 'breeds in development' or somesuch. seems to me to be...

Re: what age to send pups home

Now I have a question for you, would you yourself when used to the Cat way of doing it think it would be naturally that a breeder kept the dog a bit longer than the 8 weeks of age (which is the absolute minimum by law here)? Hmmmm, that's an interesting one.... with cats I know it makes a differenc...

Re: what age to send pups home

Is it OK if I ask a different, but related question? As those of you who've read my intro will be aware, I breed cats, so am famliar with when they go to their new homes etc etc and what they go with (in my case, at 12-15 weeks, neutered if not sold as breeding cats, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped,...

Re: Height?

I have heard this yes.. That early spray/neutering can cause the dog to be bigger than it normally would, caused by - if I remember correctly - the growth hormones not working naturally.. I think there was something about the bone density too, that the bones aren't as strong in the early sprayed/ne...

Hi all. We're planning on coming to the show (I'm even missing a day of a cat show.... :D ) so we can meet some of you in the 'real' world. Can anyone suggest what sort of time we'd be best arriving?
Thanks

Re: Hello from Northamptonshire, UK

Welcome, I would love to see some photos of your cats, they are a lovely looking breed, if I was not allergic to cats it would be a breed I would consider. I think Maine coons are the best cats... though I guess I'm a bit biased.... :) There are pictures of all our 'family' on my website (http://ww...

Re: Tamaskans and cats living together

This is so reassuring! One of the reasons I joined the forum is that we're still in the 'looking into' stage of getting a Tam, and as I breed maine coon cats, I'm concerned how they'd integrate. We've already got a dog (a three legged bichon), and prior to that had a border collie, and we also 'baby...

Hello from Northamptonshire, UK

Hi My names's Josie and I live in the UK with 9 Maine coon cats, 2 moggies, a three legged bichon frise and a long suffering husband. We've been looking for a 'wolf-like' dog for several years - my husband used to work with a pack of wolves at a wild life park and he misses them! We've looked at a f...
